Single-component and competitive adsorption of tetracycline and Zn(ii) on an NH4Cl-induced magnetic ultra-fine buckwheat peel powder biochar from water: studies on the kinetics, isotherms, and mechanism

Abstract: Single-component and competitive adsorption of tetracycline (TC) and Zn(ii) on an NH4Cl-induced magnetic ultra-fine buckwheat peel powder biochar (NH4Cl-BHP-char/Fe3O4) was investigated in batch experiments.

“…The horizontal error bars in panels (d) and (e) represent the size of the bins used for grouping data, while the vertical error bars indicate the standard deviation calculated between the 14 unique data sets. The data sets listed are in order: (1) Yang et al, (2) Yang and Al-Duri, (3 and 4) Liu and Shen, (5) Zhu et al, (6) Yang et al, (7) Yang et al, (8) Mohamed et al, (9) Drenkova-tuhtan et al, (10) Liu et al, (11) Örnek et al, (12) Zhan et al, (13) Ai et al, and (14) Nadiye-tabbiruka and Sejie…”

“…k 1 is much larger than k 2 , indicating that the initial phase rate is greater than the second phase. Therefore, the adsorption of TCH on MS 1 -CN is realized by surface adsorption and intra-particle diffusion, and stage II is the main step to limit the rate. , …”

“…The tests were conducted repeatedly in batches, with each batch repeated at least three times and the average of the results was computed. The adsorption amount q e (mg g −1 ) and adsorption efficiency R (%) of fluoride ions were calculated using eqn (1) 27 and (2) 28 respectively: where C 0 (mg L −1 ) represents the initial concentration of the solution, C e (mg L −1 ) refers to the concentration of the solution in the equilibrium stage of adsorption, V (L) represents the volume of the solution, and m (mg) represents the mass of the adsorbent.…”
