Single‐cell RNA Sequencing reveals molecular heterogeneity of glia within mouse sympathetic ganglia

Abstract: Stellate ganglion neurons, important mediators of cardiopulmonary neurotransmission, are surrounded by satellite glial cells (SGCs), which are essential for the maintenance and development of neurons. However, little is known about the heterogeneity and physiological functions of glia in adult sympathetic ganglia, and their role in modulating neurotransmission. Therefore, we performed single‐cell RNA sequencing of dissociated mouse stellate ganglia (n=8 animals), specifically focusing on the SGCs. SGCs… Show more

“…GPR37L1 mutations have been implicated in neurological diseases, such as seizure susceptibility (14)(15)(16). Single-cell analysis revealed that the Gpr37l1 transcript is highly enriched in astrocytes and SGCs (17)(18)(19)(20)(21)(22). Despite this, the exact role of GPR37L1 in SGCs is unclear.…”
