Sinfonevada: Dataset of Floristic diversity in Sierra Nevada forests (SE Spain)

Abstract: The Sinfonevada database is a forest inventory that contains information on the forest ecosystem in the Sierra Nevada mountains (SE Spain). The Sinfonevada dataset contains more than 7,500 occurrence records belonging to 270 taxa (24 of these threatened) from floristic inventories of the Sinfonevada Forest inventory. Expert field workers collected the information. The whole dataset underwent a quality control by botanists with broad expertise in Sierra Nevada flora. This floristic inventory was created to gath… Show more

“…This area is characterised by a Mediterranean subarctic climate experiencing seasonal and altitudinal gradients of temperature and precipitation [ 28 ]. The average monthly temperature ranges from -5 °C in February to 17 °C in July and may vary between 12 and 16 °C below 1,500 m and 0 °C above 3,000 m. Annual average precipitation is approximately 600 mm [ 29 ]. The snow is generally present between December and May; vegetation growth mainly occurs during summer months (June–August).…”

“…To characterize oak patches, we selected several stand attributes relating to forest structure, function, and composition from Sierra Nevada Forest Inventory [53] (Table 2). By using this approach, we characterized the plant community both in terms of their species composition, and also regarding their ecological functioning [54,55].…”
