Considering the expected frequency of 83.6% for ≥50% stenosis, 16 the minimum sample size calculated was 178 patients, with 95%CI and sample error of 5%. To make sure the sample size was enough to ensure good accuracy, in the second analysis, assuming an area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve of 0.65, 144 patients (103 without complex disease and 41 with complex disease) would be required to provide a statistical power of 80% and reject the null hypothesis of an area of 0.50, with an alpha of 0.05.…”
