The NH4+ adsorption capacity of the modified synthetic zeolite was 27.46 mg g−1. Ion exchange accounted for 77.90% of adsorption process and 80.16% of desorption process. The modified synthetic zeolite rapidly adsorbed and slowly released NH4+ and showed promise as a soil amendment.
