Simultaneous determination of five phthalate esters and bisphenol A in milk by packed‐nanofiber solid‐phase extraction coupled with gas chromatography and mass spectrometry

Abstract: A novel polystyrene/pyridine composite nanofiber was synthesized and utilized as the sorbent material for the solid‐phase extraction of bisphenol A and five common phthalate esters in milk. The method of extraction integrated extraction and preconcentration of target analytes into a single step. Bisphenol A and five common phthalate esters were selected as target compounds for the development and evaluation of the method. The effects of operating parameters for nanofiber‐based solid‐phase extraction, such as s… Show more

“…As can be seen, the chromatograms are clear, which means that the extraction procedure is effective and that the peaks are sharp and well resolved. For a complete analytical characterization, a comparison was carried out between our main results and those reported in the literature; in particular, recoveries, LODs and LOQs were compared between different studies performed in the last decade for the simultaneous analysis of PAEs and BPA in food/beverage matrices [51][52][53][71][72][73][74][75][76][77][78] (Table 4). As can be seen, the main basic PAEs analyzed in most papers are DEP, DBP, and DEHP together with BPA, whereas only a few papers show a more complete PAE speciation.…”

“…This method was efficiently applied for the detection of these pesticides in commercial bovine milk samples. Bisphenol A and five phthalate esters were targeted by Tang et al, who developed an analytical method, also based on GC-MS, which achieved low LODs within the range from 0.01 to 0.06 μg/L [ 59 ]. While Pan et al has employed GC-MS/MS for developing a valid method for determination of six phthalate esters, achieving LODs ranging from 0.8 to 2.1 μg/L [ 60 ].…”

“…Different analytical techniques have been used for the determination of bisphenol analogs in numerous samples. These techniques include gas chromatographic analysis [12,13] and capillary electrochromatography [14]. However, the majority of publications use liquid chromatographic analysis, which is the main target of this overview.…”
