“…), polysaccharides, ergosterol, mannitol, etc. [30][31][32][33] Chen et al (2008) found that adenosine stimulates adrenal steroidogenesis through the adenosine 2A and 2B receptors and further activates the intracellular Janus kinase 2-mitogen activated protein kinase kinase-extracellular regulated protein kinase signaling cascade. 34) Among these active components, to our knowledge only the nucleosides can stimulate steroidogenesis in Leydig cells (unpublished data).…”

“…The profile of nucleosides, nucleobases and uniquely modified nucleosides, instead of any single metabolite, can be feasible for the quality control of Cordyceps sensu lato products (Shiao et al 1994; Xiao and Xiong 2013). The nucleoside profile of Ophiocordyceps species and its allies has been explored, and the analytical methods of determining nucleosides and nucleobases in Cordyceps have been reported previously (Li et al 2004; Fan et al 2006; Yang et al 2007, 2009; Xiao and Xiong 2013; Zhang et al 2014; Qian and Li 2017). High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), combined with ultraviolet (UV), evaporative light scattering detector or mass spectra, has been applied to analyse the profile of nucleosides, nucleobases in Cordyceps -related species, and proved to be a simple, convenient and reliable method.…”

“…Better separation efficiency and sensitivity were achieved with acetonitrile than methanol [21]. Using 0.2% acetic acid and triethylamine in the solvent system can reduce the ionization of alkaloids and give more symmetrical peaks and a better separation [31,32]. The proportion of each mobile phase gradient is closely related to the resolution since all studied alkaloids cannot be well separated by isocratic elution [31].…”

The proportion of each mobile phase gradient is closely related to the resolution since all studied alkaloids cannot be well separated by isocratic elution [31]. The changes in the optimized gradient elution conditions can cause incomplete separation and overlapping peaks.…”
