Simultaneous determination of ascorbic acid, caffeine and paracetamol in drug formulations by differential-pulse voltammetry using a glassy carbon electrode

Abstract: A simple, rapid and accurate method for the simultaneous determination of ascorbic acid, caffeine and paracetamol in drug formulations has been developed. Peak currents were measured with a glassy carbon electrode at +0.350, +0.618 and +1.425 V versus a saturated calomel electrode for ascorbic acid, paracetamol and caffeine, respectively. Perchloric acid (0.1 M) - methanol (1 + 1) was used both as a solvent and supporting electrolyte. The optimum modulation amplitude, pulse repeat time and scan rate of the pol… Show more

“…O limite de detecção foi de 0,5 mg L -1 em pH 1,2. Já Lau et al 78 empregaram a voltametria de pulso diferencial como um método simples, rápido e acurado para análise simultânea de ácido ascórbico, cafeína e paracetamol em fármacos. As correntes de pico para ácido ascórbico, paracetamol e cafeína foram medidas com um eletrodo de carbono vítreo a +0,350; +0,618 e +1,425 V, respectivamente, contra um eletrodo de calomelano saturado.…”

“…Therefore, both electrodes displayed catalytic activity for AA oxidation. However, it is known from literature that graphene-based electrodes display much better selectivity for AA in the presence of other analytes [58][59][60][61]. Therefore, ZnO-RGO-GCE was used to develop a voltammetric sensor for AA.…”

“…The relative standard deviations for 9.30 µg ml -1 of ascorbic acid, 8.50 µg ml -1 of caffeine and 7.30 µg ml -1 of paracetamol were 1.3, 2.5 and 0.7%, respectively. Results are reported for several commercially available drugs [9]. A polarographic method is described for the simultaneous determination of ascorbic acid and dipyrone in dosage forms.…”
