“…Plasma concentrations of cortisol were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry using cortisol-13 C 4 as the internal standard (Furuta et al, 2000a). Urinary excreted amounts of 6b-OHF were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography using 6a-hydroxycorticosterone as the internal standard (Furuta et al, 2004;Shibasaki et al, 2012). Both the interassay and intra-assay coefficients of variation (CV) were ,1.80% for gas chromatography-mass spectrometry-selected ion monitoring, and both were ,2.5% for high-performance liquid chromatography.…”

“…Here we describe a simple, cost-effective and rapid method for simultaneous determination of F, E and 6b-OHF in human urine with adequate sensitivity using UPLC-UV detection. By taking advantage of UPLC techniques on smaller particle size (1.7 lm) and higher operating pressures, this method can offer efficient chromatography for the simultaneous determination of F, E, and 6b-OHF in human urine with reduced run time (7 min) compared to traditional HPLC method with a long analysis time of about 27 min [8,13].…”

“…The levels of urinary F, E, and 6b-OHF have been determined by various techniques such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and radioimmunoassay (RIA), but these techniques have relatively low selectivity and are time consuming and have largely been replaced by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) [8], and ultra high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometric (UPLC/MS/MS) [9]. Simultaneous determination of F, E, and 6b-OHF has the advantage of evaluating the activities of both renal 11bHSD2 and CYP3A.…”

“…Various methods for the simultaneous determination of 6␤-OHF and F in urine have been described, such as highperformance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) with UV [6][7][8] and fluorescence detection [9], gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) [10], and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS-MS) [11]. Separate detection of 6␤-OHF and F has been performed by radioimmunoassay (RIA) [12], enzyme-linked immunosorbentassay (ELISA) [13].…”
