Simultaneous detection of carbofuran and 3-hydroxy-carbofuran in vegetables and fruits by broad-specific monoclonal antibody-based ELISA

Abstract: Carbofuran is a highly toxic insecticide and has been banned or restricted for pest control in many countries. Being a potent acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, carbofuran and its metabolite 3hydroxycarbofuran (3-OH-CBF) are required for the analysis of their residues in food. However, an immunochemical method for simultaneous analysis of carbofuran and 3-OH-CBF is still not available. Herein, we report an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) based on a broad-specific monoclonal antibody (mAb) for simultaneo… Show more

“…The triazine metabolites, atrazine desethyl and atrazine desisopropyl, were found to be not suitable for WBE applications since their presence in IWW is greatly affected by sources other than human metabolism [23]. In addition, the degradation of the parent compounds in environmental media could be the source of the human metabolites azoxystrobin acid [92][93][94][95] and carbofuran-3-hydroxy [96][97][98] in IWW. The presence of metolachlor-morpholinon in the IWW could be attributed to various sources, such as human metabolism and environmental formation, and in the absence of available information to distinguish the actual source [99,100], no additional research was conducted.…”

“…Here we used 6-8-week-old female BALB/c mice, and for the first immunization, 100 µg of immunogen was emulsified with an equal volume of FCA and subcutaneously injected into the back of the mouse (Lan et al, 2019). Booster immunizations were performed every three weeks, (50 µg) whereby the immunogen was emulsified with an equal volume of FIA and again injected subcutaneously into the back of the mouse.…”

“…In addition, immunoassay kits that now widely utilized in food analysis are portable and can be used for routine in a processing facility or retail outlet. The ELISA method has been demonstrated high precision and good accuracy for the detection of food antigens (Lan et al, 2019;Zhou, Kuang, & Liu, 2020).…”
