Simulation of Isolated Propeller Noise Using Acoustic-Vortex Method
Abstract:The widespread development of unmanned aerial vehicles and light propeller-driven aircraft poses the task of reducing the community noise of such vehicles. To solve this problem, tools are needed to calculate the noise of such devices. The paper presents the results of the numerical simulation of the noise of an AV-2 propeller mounted on an AN-2 light propeller-driven aircraft. The authors use the acoustic-vortex method to solve the problem of aeroacoustic modeling of propeller noise in the presence of an inco… Show more
“…The modeling method is based on the theoretical approach of Blokhintsev, Landau, Crow and Artamonov. The basic equations of the acoustic-vortex method are presented in [6,7]. This method is implemented in the FlowVision 3.1x software.…”
Section: Methodology For Assessing Of Audibility Boundaries Of Uavsmentioning
The paper proposes a method for calculating the limits of audibility of multirotor systems such as quad- and hexacopters. The components of the proposed methodology are data on the noise of the device and the ambient noise, as well as the criterion of the audibility of the device. The acoustic-vortex method is used to simulate the tonal noise of multirotor systems. A trailing edge noise model is used to calculate the broadband noise of propellers.

“…Currently, much attention is paid to the numerical simulation of noise of various types of propellers (ducted propeller, open rotor etc). However, the existing commercial software is ineffective in solving such tasks [11], and interested organizations: MAI (NRU), TsAGI, Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics, AVIC Aerodynamics Research Institute and others independently develop their own software for the correct formulation of numerical aeroacoustics experiments [12][13][14][15][16]. The advantage of numerical modeling is the ability to take into account all parameters that affect the noise levels of the propeller, including installation effects.…”
Section: Schematic Diagram Of Computational Studies In the Acoustic D...mentioning
The article proposes the concept of acoustic design of propeller-driven fixed wing aircraft, i.e., taking into account the required acoustic characteristics. The scheme of research and development work at various stage of the project necessary for the implementation of this concept is proposed. A schematic diagram of computational studies in the framework of the acoustic design process of propeller-driven fixed-wing aircraft is proposed. A schematic diagram of the choice of a propeller-driven power plant is considered, taking into account the required acoustic characteristics.
