“…These advantages help membrane processes find a wide range of applications including food and beverage industries, biotechnology, water filtration and after a while, treating wastewaters containing heavy metals [170][171][172][173][174][175][176]. Membrane processes are used in treating water and wastewater because of the simple separation method [177][178][179]. This simple procedure is shared between different membrane processes with minor differences.…”

“…As seen, the contribution of diffusion is very low compared to the convection which is mainly due to the high velocity of feed solution in the membrane module. Moreover, at the zone near the membrane' surface, the contribution of diffusive mass transfer increases significantly which is because of the low velocity of feed solution near the membrane' wall (no‐slip condition) . It should be noted that in the process of interest, the diffusive mass transfer flux is of great interest because it causes the transport of water molecules toward the membrane.…”

“…CFD is a powerful tool to design, analyze, and develop different chemical processes including membrane separation [20][21][22][23][24][25][26], various reactors, and other equipment. Usually, the coupled momentum, heat and mass transfer equations are used for the CFD models [27][28][29][30][31][32].…”
