“…The problem of sensitivity analysis and optimization performed on complex, nonlinear, dynamical and multilevels systems is very interesting from the methodological point of view, especially in the area of System Dynamics (SD). System Dynamics (Coyle, , 1994(Coyle, , 1996(Coyle, , 1998(Coyle, , 1999Forrester, , 1972Forrester, , 1975Kasperska, , 2002Kasperska, , 2003Sterman, 2002;Wąsik, 1997 of Management by Jay W. Forrester. The approach can be applied to dynamics problems arising in complex social, managerial, economic or ecological systems.…”

“…This need has constituted the main motivation for several parameter specification/estimation studies using optimization‐based approaches. The optimization approaches previously used for parameter specification problems include variants of hill‐climbing/steepest descent algorithm (Coyle, 1985, 1999; Keloharju and Wolstenholme, 1988; Dangerfield and Roberts, 1996, 1999; Higuchi, 1996), genetic algorithms (Miller, 1998; Grossmann, 2002; Chen and Jeng, 2004; Duggan, 2008; Ekşin, 2008), simulated annealing (Graham and Ariza, 2003) and response surface methods (Kleijnen, 1995; Bailey et al , 2000). Besides, some system dynamics simulation software like Vensim, Powersim and Dysmod do include different optimization algorithms as support tools.…”
