To cope with the rising complexity of automotive electric/electronic architectures (EEA), model-based development at system level is well-established and typically realized in architecture description languages (ADLs) and high-level tools. In this paper, we extend a previously developed approach for automated cross-domain simulation synthesis of model-based EEA descriptions enabling system-level evaluation by a behavioral specification layer. The key contributions of this work are modeling extensions applied to a state-of-the-art EEA ADL to refine specified behavior during synthesis with electric circuits including wiring harness details modeled at the hardware layer. Preliminary experiments show that the novel combination of quantization-and SPICE-based synthesized circuit simulation, conducted in a discrete-event manner and applied to a buck converter, a typical device in an automotive EEA, increases simulation efficiency up to a factor of 2.0 compared to other state-of-the-art tools while preserving accuracy. Finally, another example EEA hardware network, modeling the dynamic current consumption of an Electric Power Steering actuator, applied to a realistic vehicle topology model demonstrates the impact of wiring harness refinements.

The increasing amount of new assistance features in today's vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operations, imply increasingly complex systems. Since millions of test kilometers have to be driven to ensure a reliable system, simulation-based verification is becoming more important to reduce costs and time-to-market. Furthermore requirements, design and verification have to follow the stringent specifications from standards such as ISO26262 for functional safety. To overcome the complexity issues of safety-critical systems, a modelbased approach helps to unites all stakeholder, and helps non safety specialists to understand problems in the design. In this paper, we present a novel methodology to automatically generate testbenches for simulation based verification from a first safety analysis. Through early simulation with constraint random stimuli and parameters we are able to derive further requirements for real-time applications. Furthermore, these testbenches can be used through the whole safety-lifecycle. Our approach allows a tight and seamless integration of requirements, design and verification into the safety-lifecycle of ISO26262.

The increasing complexity of electric/electronic architectures (EEA) in the automotive domain raised the necessity of model-based development processes for the design of such heterogeneous systems, which combine different engineering principles with different viewpoints. High-level simulation is a great means to evaluate the EEA in the concept phase of the design, since it reduces costly real-world experiments. However, model-based EEA design and analysis as well as its simulation are often separate processes in the development lifecycle. In this paper, we present a novel approach that extends stateof-the-art model-based systems engineering principles of EEA by a behavior specification reusing library components. The specification is seamlessly integrated in the development process of a single source EEA model. Therewith, the starting point is the abstract logical function architecture of the EEA. Based on this single source EEA model we synthesize a unified high-level simulation model, which is capable of linking the behavioral model with lower level implementation details of other domains, e.g. the network communication of the underlying hardware topology. This cross-layer simulation enables an early but holistic system's behavior analysis of the dynamic changes which typically depend on the scenarios applied. Moreover, the integrated approach enables the potential to feedback the simulation results into suitable EEA metrics and benchmarks for further analysis and optimization as well as the seamless traceability of the behavioral specification to requirements and other abstraction layers. A driver assistance system use case demonstrates the proof-ofconcept and the benefits of our methodology.
