“…In addition, the higher compressive strength of the materials provides an opportunity to operate at a higher stress, compared to brittle piezoelectric ceramics; [ 71,72 ] for example, Terfenol‐D can exhibit a compressive strength in excess of 300 MPa. [ 73 ] Given the high stress and power intensity associated with ripple harvesting, it would be of interest to examine the potential of magnetostrictive materials in more detail. The potential disadvantages of using such materials are the need for current collection coils and bias magnets, which can increase harvester size and complexity, and the strong nonlinear properties of the materials.…”

“…To reduce the radial vibration of the rotor, it is very important to increase the flexural stiffness of the overhang area so that the radial vibration can be completely reduced to an acceptable level for the final cutting operation. The results showed that the increase in pump pressure and reduction of the bearing distance are effective methods to reduce radial vibration Greco et al, 5 investigated the use of air bearings with ultrasonic aid for machining applications. The use of this type of spindle led to a reduction in cutting forces, tool wear, and in particular the expansion of the range of machinable materials at the micro-level.…”

“…These slug-tracking methods do not consider the unsteady flows with slugs that occupy most of cross-sectional area of pipes. In applications to simulation-based design (Greco et al, 2019, as an example) of flow channels in chemical processing and analysis, flow in pipes should be calculated with a small number of elements to reduce calculation cost and confirm design parameters.…”
