SIMULATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A NEW X-BAND 1:4 POWER DIVIDER/COMBINER BASED ON A NEW WAVEGUIDE H-PLANE FOLDED MAGIC-T

Abstract: Abstract-This paper presents the simulation and fabrication of a new power divider/combiner based on a new waveguide H-plane folded magic-T structure. Measurements of the fabricated magic-T confirm the accuracy of the optimization algorithms existing in the CST software (Genetic algorithm, Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm PSO etc.). The magic-T structure exhibits moderate bandwidth response in the frequency range of 8-10 GHz. Also, it shows that the return loss is better than −15 dB, the insertion loss ab… Show more

“…Magic-T is 40% that is significantly larger than the structures proposed in references [8,9] with 22.2% and 22% of bandwidth, respectively. Due to the importance of 20 dB RL bandwidth in high-power handling application, the proposed Magic-T has 36% of 20 dB RL bandwidth over the 8.15-11.7 GHz, which is significantly higher compared with references [6][7][8][9][10][11].…”

“…To highlight the advantage of the structure, the comparison between the proposed Magic‐T with the state‐of‐the‐art references is presented in Table 2. As it can be seen, 10 dB RL bandwidth of the proposed Magic‐T is 40% that is significantly larger than the structures proposed in references [8, 9] with 22.2% and 22% of bandwidth, respectively. Due to the importance of 20 dB RL bandwidth in high‐power handling application, the proposed Magic‐T has 36% of 20 dB RL bandwidth over the 8.15–11.7 GHz, which is significantly higher compared with references [6–11].…”

“…However, conventional magic‐Tee gets a large volume and its two H‐plane arms are arranged in opposite direction which limits its application in microwave circuits. A more practical way is to use H‐plane folded magic‐Tee as shown in Figure A, which is realized by folding or bending the two H‐plane arms to make them parallel with each other …”

“…A more practical way is to use H-plane folded magic-Tee as shown in Figure 4A, which is realized by folding or bending the two H-plane arms to make them parallel with each other. 11 Similar to waveguide H-plane folded magic-Tee, an Hplane folded SIW magic-Tee can be imitated as shown in Figure 4B. It is reasonable to believe that this structure will inherit high output ports isolation performance.…”
