Abstract:We consider queueing delay versus throughput performance for PLAYTHROUGH rings. The PLAYTHROUGH data link layer protocol is a multiserver distributed control mechanism that allows concurrent message transfer. We present simulation data comparing performance for four queueing disciplines. We also present a simple analysis to predict the throughput value at which the queueing system saturates. We compare analytical and simulation results for both PLAYTHROUGH and token rings and find the average performance of PL… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
