Simulating Operating & Production Efficiencies for Deep Water Field Developments

Abstract: Computer simulations of oil & gas field operations are extremely helpful in planning field developments in deep water. They may be used to identify optimum or robust strategies, and to assess trade-offs among alternative scenarios. Through series of simulations, different development scenarios can be compared, and the sensitivity to diverse parameters investigated and quantified. The SLOOP simulator was developed in a Joint Industry Project to model the complete operation of offshore oil and gas facilities… Show more

“…ECN has further developed the Operations and Maintenance Cost Estimator (OMCE) (Rademakers, Braam, Obdam, & Pieterman 2009), a simulationbased model developed in MATLAB designed to support logistics decisions during the post-warranty period of the wind farm. Garrad Hassan and Partners have developed the O2M (Optimisation of Operations & Maintenance) computer model (Phillips, Morgan, & Jacquemin 2005) which simulates the operation of a wind farm to yield long-term average O&M cost estimates, whereas the MWCOST model (Rowe, Dello, Frank, Brendling, & Grittner 2000) is a simulation model developed initially for managing offshore oil and gas projects and further adopted for application in offshore wind contexts.…”

“…To maximize the availability of subsea tree, how to quantitatively evaluate these factors influencing the maintainability is needed to be settled. For many years, most of the major companies had made great efforts to address the related issues of subsea maintenance [2,4,15]. Many factors had been investigated, such as the important weather and the characteristics of subsea repair work.…”
