Simplifying the design of a DCM boost PFP

Abstract: This paper presents a simplified approach to the design of a PWM-DCM boost Power Factor Preregulator. Using a simplified equation which represents a good approximation of the original equation makes it simpler to determine the inductance value as well as to obtain a representative smallsignal model for the converter. The approach is validated by simulation and experimentation.
