Abstract:Lasers can simplify spectra by increasing or decreasing the population of a chosen level or by orienting the molecules, so that transitions involving that level can be identified. These methods reveal several series of Rydberg states in Na2, from which the constants of the ground state of the ion can be extrapolated. Many c.w. two-photon transitions, strongly enhanced by near coincidence with allowed transitions, have been identified. Unusual line shapes are found when the offset from exact coincidence is much… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
