Simplified Lateral Torsional Buckling (LTB) Analysis of Glass Fins with Continuous Lateral Restraints at the Tensioned Edge

Abstract: Within multiple design challenges, the lateral torsional buckling (LTB) analysis and stability check of structural glass members is a well-known issue for design. Typical examples can be found not only in glass slabs with slender bracing members but also in facades and walls, where glass fins are used to brace the vertical panels against input pressures. Design loads such as wind suction give place to possible LTB of fins with LR at the tensioned edge and thus require dedicated tools. In the present investigat… Show more

“…In addition, the dimensions of their cross-section have significant disproportions, i.e., one of the dimensions is significantly larger. For these reasons, the critical moment for lateral-torsional buckling (LTB) is determined in their design (Luible and Schärer, 2016;Santo, Mattei and Bedon, 2016;Bedon, 2021aBedon, , 2021b.…”

“…W kontekście tematyki pracy znaczącą wiedzę wnoszą opracowania dotyczące szklanych elewacji (Celadyn, 2004;Wurm, 2007;Patterson, 2011;Tymkiewicz, 2014;Brzezicki, 2018a;Brzezicki, 2018b;Brzezicki, 2019a;Brzezicki, 2021a;Brzezicki 2021b;Herzog, Krippner, Lang, 2021). Na szczególną uwagę zasługują pozycje poruszające tematykę szczegółowych rozwiązań materiałowych i projektowych, stosowanych w zaawansowanych rozwiązaniach elewacyjnych, takich jak: ponadwymiarowe szyby (Laufs, Nefedov, 2016;Bedon, Amadio, 2018;Rubel, 2021), szklane żebra (Sanches, 2013;Brzezicki, 2019b;de Krom i in., 2020;Bedon, 2021a, Bedon, 2021b, szkło w układach tarczownicowych (Carvalho, Crus, 2014;Eekhout, Weber, 2014;Lenk, 2022), szkło gięte (Nijsee, 2009;Nijsee, Wenting, 2014;Doulkari, 2014;Datsiou, 2017;Fildhuth, Schieber, Oppe, 2018).…”
