“…These results indicate that the lateral arrangement of DPPy moieties, accompanied by well‐developed H‐bonded chains, is allowed by the small steric hindrance and is suitable for efficient excimer formation (Figure b). The restriction of the rotation of the benzene rings due to the compact packing of the chromophore and the H bond formation may also contribute to the enhancement of the photoluminescence …”

“…By slowing/stopping the rotation, molecular luminescence can be restored. AIE fluorogens have recently received much research attention for their unique optical properties and extensive applications, because they are highly required for the development of efficient solid-state devices [ 19 , 20 ].…”

“…[17,18] In contrast, pyrene-based AIE compounds that achievem onomer-excimerc onversion in solution are less frequently reported [19] and somed erivatives are documented to exhibit both monomeric and excimer emission in solution, allowing their use as fluorescent probesa nd highlys ensitive fluorescent sensors. [14,[20][21][22][23] Regarding the emission in the solid state, variousk inds of mechanochromic illuminants based on pyrene derivates have been reported, which are accompanied by excimer-to-excimer,m onomer-to-excimer and conformation transitions.
