Simple, Rapid and Sensitive Electrochemical Method for the Determination of the Triketone Herbicide Sulcotrione in River Water Using a Glassy Carbon Electrode

Abstract: We report a novel, simple, rapid and sensitive electrochemical method for the determination of sulcotrione, a member of the relatively new class of triketone herbicides, using differential pulse voltammetry on a glassy carbon electrode. Its electrochemical behavior including influences of electrolyte composition, pH and scan rate was studied to select optimal experimental parameters for its determination. In BrittonRobinson buffer at pH 3 sulcotrione provided a well‐defined reduction peak at −0.84 V (vs. Ag/A… Show more

“…The results, in terms of limit of detection and linear range, are comparable with the recently published studies. Due to the lack of data about this topic, we can conclude that our results are more or less similar to the results obtained by Stanković et al and Rocaboy-Faquet et al, while Rajiji and coworkers provided a lower LOD and a wider linear range [ 56 , 57 , 58 ]. The repeatability of the method was tested with the five measurements of the two concentrations of sulcotrione, 20 and 80 µM ( Figure 7 C,D).…”

“…Frequently used electrode materials are the glassy carbon electrode (GCE), carbon disk electrode (CDE), saturated calomel electrode (SCE), and boron-doped diamond electrode (BDDE). 106,107 The electrochemical methods for alkaloid detection like differential pulse voltammetry, the hyphenated technique of capillary electrophoresis with mass spectrometry, cyclodextrin-modified capillary electrophoresis, and cyclodextrin-modified micellar electrokinetic chromatography are highly sensitive, simple, and rapid methods which give good results.
