“…S. bovis 4/1 was grown aerobically overnight at 37°C in Todd‐Hewitt broth (Imuna, Slovakia) containing 0 and 5 μg Hg 2+ ml −1 in the form of mercuric chloride or anaerobically in the same medium prepared with a gas phase of CO 2 containing 0 and 5 μg Hg 2+ ml −1 . S. ruminantium E32 was also grown anaerobically overnight at 37°C in the selective M medium described by Tiwari et al [13] in the presence of 0, 5 or 50 μg Hg 2+ ml −1 .…”

“…M. elsdenii strains were obtained from rumen contents of lamb (3J, 5J, 7J), calf (2T, 5T) and sheep (4O, 5O), and were previously characterized in our laboratory based on their ability to utilize saccharides, analysis of fermentation end products and Gram staining and cell morphology according to [10]. The strains were grown statically at 37 °C in M10 medium [11] supplemented with fructose (5 g l −1 ) for 16 hours. All cultivations were done anaerobically under a CO 2 atmosphere.…”

“…Selenomonas ruminantium 18D was cultivated anaerobically in selective M medium [5] at 39°C until the late stationary phase of growth was reached (16 h). The cells were harvested by centrifugation (10000 × g, 15 rain, 4°C) and stored at 130 -20°C.…”
