Stroke is a leading cause of global population mortality and disability, imposing burdens on patients and caregivers, and significantly affecting the quality of life of patients. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to explore the application of virtual reality technology in physical therapy by using immersive interactive training and designing rehabilitation modes for individual and group settings. We also aimed to provide patients with stroke with a comprehensive home-based rehabilitation and treatment plan, ultimately enhancing training effectiveness. Patients can engage in home-based rehabilitation through this system and undergo functional, mirror, and constraint-induced therapies tailored to different task contents. Simultaneously, using brain-computer interface technology, an emotion analysis mechanism was designed to map the patients' brainwave signal data onto a two-dimensional space of positive-negative valence arousal; this approach can enable remote physical therapists to discern the patients' emotional states during the rehabilitation process through virtual spaces, facilitating timely adjustments to rehabilitation tasks. Moreover, to prevent compromised effectiveness owing to improper training postures leading to compensation, the system offers real-time identification and recording, promptly issuing alerts when compensation occurs. The system provides a multiuser virtual rehabilitation space, enabling timely corrections and data observations, offering patients with stroke a home-based rehabilitation program, thereby realizing a localized aging care model.

The virtual field trip format offers several advantages over a fully three-dimensional world, including its ease and cost-effectiveness in creation and development. By utilizing a 360 camera, capturing images becomes convenient, portable, and viable even in remote regions. With the amount of activity involving students and agricultural society, the potential for integrating these field trip experiences into a learning experience is significant in IPB University. Not only it able to help students understand the context before doing the actual field trip, it also able to improve their empathy to the society introduced through the virtual field trip. This research aims to present the development of a virtual reality tour to introduce digital village ecosystem to computer science students and measure its presence among the students. The 360 scenes were captured during a visit to a digital village in West Java, and an immersive learning plan was devised to introduce the digital village ecosystems. The learning path was designed based on the cone of learning principle. To evaluate the effectiveness of the virtual reality system, presence questionnaires were administered, a knowledge test was conducted, and interviews were carried out with 22 students. Research indicates that the virtual field trip successfully introduced one digital village ecosystem in Cibodas, West Java Province. Students were able to explore the village site, learn about the digital village ecosystem, and provide valuable feedback. The presence questionnaire yielded a score of 5.49 out of 7, indicating a positive immersive experience. The two are of improvements are Involvement (4.96 of 7.00) and Distraction Factor (5.20 of 7.00). The interviews identified areas for improvement, such as enhancing content quality and increasing natural interaction within the system. In conclusion, this research has laid the foundation for the IPB Immersive Field Trip Platform by developing a virtual field trip that introduces computer science students to a digital village ecosystem. The findings demonstrate promising results and provide insights for further refinement of the platform.

Virtual Reality headsets have evolved to include unprecedented display quality. Meantime, they have become light-weight, wireless and low-cost, which has opened to new applications and a much wider audience. Photo-based omnidirectional imaging has also developed, becoming directly exploitable for VR, with their combination proven suitable for: remote visits and realistic scene reconstruction, operator's training and control panels, surveillance and e-tourism. There is however a limited amount of scientific work assessing VR experience and user's performance in photo-based environment representations. This paper focuses on assessing the effect of photographic realism in VR when observing real places through a VR headset, for two different pixel-densities of the display, environment types and familiarity levels. Our comparison relies on the observation of static three-dimensional and omnidirectional photorealistic views of environments. The aim is to gain an insight about how photographic texture can affect perceived realness, sense of presence and provoked emotions, as well as perception of image-lighting and actual space dimension (true-dimension). Two user studies are conducted based on subjective rating and measurements given by users to a number of display and human factors. The display pixel-density affected the perceived image-lighting and prevailed over better lighting specs. The environment illumination and distance to objects generally played a stronger role than display. The environment affected the perceived image-lighting, spatial presence, depth impression and specific emotions. Distances to a set of objects were generally accurately estimated. Place familiarity enhanced perceived realism and presence. They confirmed some previous studies, but also introduced new elements.INDEX TERMS Extended reality, head mounted displays, photorealism, visualization.
