Simple circularly polarized planar monopole inverted T‐shaped antenna

Abstract: This article presents a novel planar monopole antenna with circular polarization. The 3‐dB axial ratio (AR) is achieved by: shifting a vertical monopole to the left edge of the substrate in conjunction with a laterally inverted L‐shaped ground plane. When viewed from the top, the antenna resembles an uneven T‐shaped structure rotated at 90°. Measurement results show that; a 3‐dB AR bandwidth is achieved from 3.1 to 6.2 GHz (66.7% fractional bandwidth) and an S11 ≤ −10 dB bandwidth is realized from 2.5 to 6.5 G… Show more

“…Therefore, the application of this antenna, particularly to GSM 1800, GSM 1900 and LTE 2400, is limited. Another BCPPMA structure was proposed by Ellis et al [142]. As shown in Figure 29a,b, the design of the BCPPMA is relatively simple because it does not use slots, stubs or parasitic strips.…”

“…So, the design of printed monopole CPA is a research hotspot. Recently, various printed monopole CPAs with perturbation geometries have been proposed by Li and colleagues 10–19 . A corner‐truncated monopole antenna 10 with 23.1% 3‐dB axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW) is designed by loading an inverted‐L‐shaped slit into the slot‐embedded ground.…”

A C-shaped monopole antenna 11 with 48.5% 3-dB ARBW is also put forward by using a cross-shaped patch as a parasitic element.…”
