“…The reason for this subdivision was the underlying concept of inflammation as a potential impairing factor for myocardial contractility in these patients. Cardiac impairment has been demonstrated before in other autoimmune inflammatory diseases such as psoriasis 38, 39 , rheumatoid arthritis 40 or systemic lupus erythematodes 41 .…”

“…In addition, the psoriatic patients with the dominant AT1R‐A 1166 C polymorphism had significantly higher serum levels of VAP‐1 and MDA but lower total bilirubine, uric acid, ARE, SOD and CAT activities compared to the corresponding control group. This finding indicates that the C allele of the AT1R‐A 1166 C may be considered as a strong independent predictive factor for incidence of oxidative stress and inflammation . These data also suggest that psoriasis patients carrying C allele of AT1R 1166 may be more susceptible to cardiovascular disease and myocardial infarction compared with psoriasis patients carrying A allele of AT1R 1166 .…”

“…This result is harmful to proteins, lipids, and DNA. Oxidative stress can also be assessed by the level of MDA in plasma [35]. Healthy skin maintains a dynamic balance between oxidation and antioxidation, and if this balance is destroyed, some diseases manifest, including psoriasis [36].…”
