Silver Nanoparticles: Cytotoxic and Apoptotic Activity on HT-29 and A549 Cell Lines

Abstract: Silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) are versatile materials with a broad range of applications in various fields such as cancer therapy, drug delivery. In this work, cytotoxic and apoptotic activities of silver nanoparticles was evaluation against lung (A549) and colon (HT-29) cell lines. The cytotoxic activity of nanoparticles was performed by MTT assay, while their apoptotic activity was tested through TUNEL method. The results of MTT of A549 have illustrate that fifty percent of cells destruction in concentration… Show more

“…The MTT assay was utilised in a cytotoxicity experiment to ascertain the anticancer activity of Caulerpa taxifolia produced Silver Nanoparticles against A549 lung cancer cells [47]. At concentrations greater than 250 g/ml of Silver Nanoparticles, Prosopis farcta has been demonstrated to kill 50% of cells [48]. The creation or synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles and their cytotoxic effects have been the subject of numerous investigations.…”

“…Green synthesized AgNPs derived from plants like Garcinia mangostana bark extract [ 150 ], Matricaria chamomilla extract [ 151 ], Eucalyptus camaldulensis [ 152 ], Prosopis farcta [ 153 ], Artemisia oliveriana [ 154 ], Toxicodendron vernicifluum [ 155 ], Lonicera Nummulariifolia [ 156 ], Gossypium hirsutum [ 140 ], Juniperus chinensis [ 139 ], Thymus capitatus [ 157 ] have been successfully used against lung cancer cell lines. As discussed earlier, AgNPs usually wipe off the cancer cells via the apoptotic pathway.…”
