Silver nanoparticles confined in shell-in-shell hollow TiO2 manifesting efficiently photocatalytic activity and stability

Abstract: The complete degradation of tetracycline still is a challenge for TiO2-based photocatalysts under simulated solar light irradiation. To tackle this challenge, we devise Ag nanoparticles (Ag NPs) confined in shell-in-shell hollow TiO2 photocatalyst (HTAT). This strategy mainly involves the construction of CPS@TiO2 core-shell composites, the form of TiO2 inner shell, AgNPs loading by photo-deposition, the assembly of TiO2 outer shell, and phase transition of anatase TiO2 by calcination at 450℃. All characterizat… Show more

“…5a shows the degradation efficiencies of TC. Samples own different 45,46 it could be compared with the reported 75% in Z-scheme Ag 3 PO 4 /CuBi 2 O 4 photocatalysts and even much higher than 71.2% by Ag 3 VO 4 /WO 3 photocatalyst reported. 47,48 Further increases of the content for CdS in the CuPW-CdS composites, however, would lead to the decrease of degradation efficiencies.…”

“…Combining with TOC data, it was demonstrated that photocatalytic degradation could destroy the organic groups of TC and partially convert them into CO 2 and H 2 O. However, the most proposed products were also determined in other previous reports and were deemed to be less toxic and harmful …”

“…So only ∼4% solar energy of ultraviolet light can be used by TiO 2 , and 45% solar energy of visible light can not be used (Jiang et al, 2018aYin et al, 2018;Ahadi et al, 2019;Zhou F. et al, 2019;Komtchoua et al, 2020). In order to broaden the light adsorption of TiO 2 to visible light, many efforts have been conducted (Zhao et al, 2019a;Zhang et al, 2020). Doing has attracted increasing interest in recent years (Jiang et al, 2018a;Kamaludin et al, 2019;Lu et al, 2019;Xiu et al, 2019;Yan et al, 2019).…”
