Silver Nanoparticle-Embedded Nanogels for Infection-Resistant Surfaces

Abstract: The present study aims at fabricating carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)-functionalized silver nanogel (CMC-Ag nanogel)-immobilized cotton fabric for preventing chronic infections. Silver-embedded CMC nanogels were prepared by the reduction of silver nitrate in the presence of fructose and CMC as the reducing and stabilizing agents, respectively. Various parameters, such as CMC concentration, reduction time, and reduction temperature, having effects on the synthesis were optimized to obtain nanogels. The formation … Show more

“…After the acclimatization period, a skin compatibility study was carried out. [ 7 ] Firstly, hairs on the dorsal region of the mice were shaved, followed by treatment with a skin hair‐remover to achieve a proper and clean shaved area on the dorsal side of the mice. The bio‐functionalized PP fabrics of 20 × 20 mm 2 patch size were then applied on the shaved dorsal site and secured to the skin with transpore adhesive tape.…”

“…[ 37,52 ] So, polymer‐based composites with processability, flexibility, and low density have attracted attention as EMI shielding materials. [ 12,40,53–55 ] Polymers are either insulators or intrinsic conductors (ICPs). The primary requirement for EMI shielding material is that it be electrically conductive.…”
