Silver‐Catalyzed Oxidative C(sp3)−P Bond Formation through C−C and P−H Bond Cleavage

Abstract: The silver-catalyzed oxidative C(sp )-H/P-H cross-coupling of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with H-phosphonates, followed by a chemo- and regioselective C(sp )-C(CO) bond-cleavage step, provided heavily functionalized β-ketophosphonates. This novel method based on a readily available reaction system exhibits wide scope, high functional-group tolerance, and exclusive selectivity.

“…Prior to electrical measurement, modifying a nanowire surface with select bioreceptors for molecular recognition is a pivotal step for achieving good selectivity and high sensitivity. [48][49][50][51] Commonly, a thin silicon oxide layer naturally grows on the nanowire surface, which serves as an active interface to produce various functional groups (e.g., amine, thiol, and aldehyde groups) for covalent immobilization. Therefore, silane chemistry has become one of the most powerful and efficient methods for nanowire surface functionalization.…”

“…Among the elected members of the NAS are Paula T. Hammond (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) who recently described a polyamine‐mediated assembly of ribonucleoproteins for enhanced mRNA delivery in a Communication in Angewandte Chemie , Krzysztof Matyjaszewski (Carnegie Mellon University) who had a Frontispiece Communication in Angewandte Chemie on biomimetic polymer coatings for ultralow fouling surfaces, and Omar M. Yaghi (University of California, Berkeley) who wrote an Essay for Angewandte Chemie on building a scientific research center in Vietnam . While these three scientists have already been featured in this section, four of their colleagues are introduced below.…”

“…In particular, β ‐ketophosphine oxides are extremely important and valuable organophosphorus compounds, which serve as versatile building blocks in organic synthesis especially for the synthesis of ( E )‐olefins and cyclopropanes . β ‐Ketophosphine oxides exhibit multifarious biological activities, as well as distinguished metal‐complexing abilities due to their unique chemical, physical and biological properties . The classical methods for the preparation of β ‐ketophosphine oxides derivatives involve the acylation of alkylphosphine oxides by employing stoichiometric amounts of hazardous organometallic reagents and the hydrolysis of enamine phosphine oxides .…”
