“…The systematic basis for the study of Silurian cryptospores and trilete spores was established by Burgess (1991) for the type Llandovery area, Burgess and Richardson (1991) for the type Wenlock area, and Burgess and Richardson (1995) for late Wenlock to early Pfídolí sections in Great Britain. These papers provide a record of cryptospore and trilete spore distribution through the same interval as now seen in western Avalon (Beck and Strother, 2001) and in the Allenport section.
