Silica‐supported Perchloric Acid Catalyzed One‐pot Synthesis of 1,4‐Dihydropyridines

Abstract: An environmentally friendly and highly efficient procedure for the preparation of 1,4-dihydropyridines by the reaction between α,β-unsaturated aldehydes, aromatic amines and β-keto esters in the presence of silica supported perchloric acid is described.

“…For example, the reaction of cinnamaldehyde, aniline and 2-acetyl ethyl acetate provided the corresponding 1,4-DHP in 90% yield. 13 Following these results, some other different catalysts such as nano CuO, 14 silica-supported perchloric acid (HClO4?SiO 2 ) 15 and InCl 3 16 were also discovered as practical catalysts for this threecomponent 1,4-DHPs synthesis.…”
