Significantly Enhanced Molecular Stacking in Ternary Bulk Heterojunctions Enabled by an Appropriate Side Group on Donor Polymer

Abstract: Ternary strategy is a promising approach to broaden the photoresponse of polymer solar cells (PSCs) by adopting combinatory photoactive blends. However, it could lead to a more complicated situation in manipulating the bulk morphology. Achieving an ideal morphology that enhances the charge transport and light absorption simultaneously is an essential avenue to promote the device performance. Herein, two polymers with different lengths of side groups (P1 is based on phenyl side group and P2 is based on biphenyl… Show more

“…Organic solar cells (OSCs) have witnessed an impressive revival owing to the rapid development of acceptor-donoracceptor (A-D-A) small molecular acceptors (SMAs). [1][2][3][4][5] The efficiency of 18.32%. [11] Besides, traditional side chains consist of phenyl and alkyl side groups, which often induce undesirable trade-off between aggregation of SMAs and miscibility of active layers.…”

“…Organic solar cells (OSCs) have aroused much attention owing to its natural flexibility, low-weight, and wide material sources. [1][2][3] Developing high performance OSCs is a prerequisite to efficiently harvest solar energy and generate clean energy, especially in the emerged portable flexible optoelectronics. Thanks to the development of non-fullerene acceptors, the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) have been markedly boosted to 17% from Y6 and its derivatives based bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) devices.…”
