“…The nuclear atypia grade was evaluated based on the size of the nuclei. Low‐grade atypia is characterized by small and regular nuclei, while high‐grade atypia is characterized by large and irregular nuclei with occasional, conspicuous nucleoli, based on previous reports . The presence of signet ring cells was also evaluated.…”

“…It most often arises from the appendix, and more rarely from the ovary, colon, and urachus . Because of their rarity, the cytological features of PMP have seldom been reported . The characteristic cytological features of the ascites in patients with PMP are the presence of abundant thick mucus material with or without epithelial cell clusters.…”

“…35 A relative increase in single cells in comparison to benign and borderline lesions may be observed. 97 Metastatic mucinous neoplasms that may be encountered in the ovary include metastatic endocervical adenocarcinoma, colorectal adenocarcinoma, low-grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasms, and pancreatobiliary carcinoma. 62 It is prudent to rule out a metastasis of a mucinous tumor to the ovary or peritoneum in cases of mucinous neoplasms.…”
