SignFi

Abstract: We propose SignFi to recognize sign language gestures using WiFi. SignFi uses Channel State Information (CSI) measured by WiFi packets as the input and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) as the classification algorithm. Existing WiFi-based sign gesture recognition technologies are tested on no more than 25 gestures that only involve hand and/or finger gestures. SignFi is able to recognize 276 sign gestures, which involve the head, arm, hand, and finger gestures, with high accuracy. SignFi collects CSI measur… Show more

“…Table 3 shows a comparison between RSS and CSI. packet-scale multi-path signal cluster scale frequency resolution / subcarrier scale Due to the fine-grained information provided by Wi-Fi CSI, the use of Wi-Fi motion sensing has become a hot topic in recent years [19][20][21][22]. This paper reviews a variety of models on the relationship between human action and Wi-Fi, including the Doppler model, Fresnel zone model, and raw signals model in Section 3.…”

“…It shows that the raw phase sequences of the three antennas are folded, in the phase range [−π π]. SignFi [21] obtains the linear transformation of CSI phases from different subcarriers of different antennas by using a linearly unwinding method. Different phase patterns over time can be calculated by applying a linear unwinding method, shown in Figure 15.…”
