Signal Processing for Optical Power Spectrum Monitoring

Abstract: In this paper, we explore the application of signal processing methods to the design of optical monitoring equipment for use in optical networks. In particular, we study inverse signal processing to enhance the performance of optical power spectrum estimation, based on low finesse (low Q) tunable optical filters. We consider both batch and recursive methods. Simulation results confirm that accurate power spectrum estimates can be achieved using the proposed techniques.
