“…PEC sensing, derived from electroanalysis, is a broadly used analytical method based on the principle of conversion of light into electrons. It combines a photoelectric converter with a chemical sensing material and induces chemical reactions on the sensor surface through light irradiation to generate corresponding electrochemical signals to obtain information about the target substance. PEC sensing technology is a significant branch of electrochemical detection, featuring real-time, fast, and simple electrochemical detection. In addition, the separation of the excitation light and detection electricity signal results in the advantages of low background signal and high detection sensitivity of PEC sensors. Moreover, designing PEC sensor surfaces such that they interact specifically with target substances under specific reaction conditions facilitates selective detection. This feature avoids the requirements of complex sample pretreatment and separation processes for PEC sensing technology, highlighting the broad applicability of PEC sensing technology in the analysis of complex samples. , Notably, the detection process of PEC sensors directly involves light irradiation to produce corresponding electrochemical signals, simplifying and streamlining the operation. This ensures that PEC sensors can quickly and accurately monitor changes in the concentration of target substances in rapidly changing sample matrices. , These advantages provide versatility to the PEC sensing technology finding applications in environmental monitoring, , food safety, , biomedicine, , and other fields. , PEC sensing research has attained significant popularity in recent times, demonstrated by the increasing volume of published reports. ,, With the continuous progress and innovation in science and technology, PEC sensing will play an important role in many fields and bring more convenience and safety to people’s lives …”
