Sigma terms and strangeness content of the nucleon with N f  = 2 + 1 + 1 twisted mass fermions

Abstract: We study the nucleon matrix elements of the quark scalar-density operator using maximally twisted mass fermions with dynamical light (u,d), strange and charm degrees of freedom. We demonstrate that in this setup the nucleon matrix elements of the light and strange quark densities can be obtained with good statistical accuracy, while for the charm quark counterpart only a bound can be provided. The present calculation which is performed at only one value of the lattice spacing and pion mass serves as a technica… Show more

“…The interesting lattice setup briefly described above has already been successfully tested in B K computations both in the quenched approximation [39] and on ensembles with N f = 2 [8] and N f = 2 + 1 + 1 dynamical quarks [40], as well as in unquenched (N f = 2 + 1 + 1) studies of meson masses and decay constants [41] and nucleon sigma terms [42].…”

“…The shortcoming of our result in Ref. [16] has been that, being a feasibility study only, y N was obtained at only one value of the lattice spacing, a single finite volume and only one quark mass.…”

“…We will refer to t and t s as the source-operator separation and the source-sink separation, respectively. We have shown in [16] that Rðt; t s Þ does not need to be renormalized since no mixing in the renormalization pattern appears. The ratio Rðt; t s Þ has the following asymptotic behavior:…”
