Side lobe suppression of printed antenna array with perpendicular reflector

Abstract: Side lobe suppression of printed antenna arrays with perpendicular reflector has been analyzed in this article. The arrays are with pentagonal dipoles as radiating elements operating at a second resonance. The used distribution is chosen to enable high side lobe suppressions bigger than 41.5 dB at the frequency of 12 GHz. The feeding network in symmetrical (balanced) microstrip technique with impedance transformers is presented too. The antenna arrays with the high side lobe suppression are very sensitive in s… Show more

“…The previous researches [8][9][10] have showed that reflector plate influences the antenna parameters like SLS, gain, bandwidth, etc. The planar reflector plates [8][9][10] enable that antenna array can apply in a wide frequency range, although its gain and SLS are not satisfactory for many modern communication systems. Unlike planar reflector plates, the antenna array with corner reflectors [8][9] can achieve greater gain and SLS but narrow bandwidth.…”

“…The distribution coefficients for Dolph-Chebyshev distribution of the second order with pedestal of 19 dB All impedance transformers are λ g /4 length (λ g is wavelength at the centre frequency f c for the dielectric substrate whose thickness is 0.508 mm and dielectric constant is 2.17). Their characteristics and dimensions have been calculated[9]-[10] using values u i i = 1,2,3,4 fromTable 1for dielectric substrate of 0.508 mm thickness, 2.17 relative dielectric permittivity, 41 MS/m conductivity of metal, insignificantly small values of loss tangent and conductor thickness (Table 2).…”
