SiC Nanofiber-Coated Carbon/Carbon Composite for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding

Abstract: Carbon/carbon–silicon carbide (C/C-SiC) composites have been widely reported in aerospace and military projects for their mechanical properties and electromagnetic shielding characteristics. However, high production costs, a complex process, and poor electrical conductivity have prohibited the large-scale application of these excellent EMI shielding materials. Herein, in situ growth of the SiC nanofibers (SiCnf) on carbonized phenolic resin with the reinforcement of graphite fibers is proposed for a strategy t… Show more

“…[ 46 ] The diffraction peak at a 2θ value of 26.5° corresponds to the (002) plane of the graphitic carbon. [ 47 ] The NdFeMOFs@700 also showed peaks at 30.9°, 40.6°, 48.3°, 53.2°, 58.5°, 64.7°, 69.7°, and 74.4°, which were attributed to Nd 2 O 3 nanoparticles (Powder Diffraction File, JCPDS No. 41–1089).…”

“…Up to now, SiCNWs were not only used to reinforce C/C composites, but also were applied as reinforcements for ceramics modified C/C composites, also achieving the increase in mechanical properties, [86] antiablation performance, [186] and electromagnetic shielding properties. [187] In order to further improve the ablative resistance of the C/C composites. Yang et al [188] proposed SiC network reinforced C/C-ZrB 2 -ZrC-SiC composites via pyrolysis of polymeric precursor method.…”

“…As shown in the Figure 10, when incident from the front, electromagnetic waves can enter the material due to impedance matching. After that, part of the electromagnetic waves is absorbed by Ni@SiCw through magnetic loss and dielectric loss, 39,50,51 and the remaining part continues to propagate to the GNP/PVDF layer. According to previous results, the GNP/PVDF layer's conductivity reaches 85.43 S/m, which has a certain electric loss to electromagnetic waves.…”
