“…Therefore, mangrove coverage is one of the factors considered for improving shrimp productivity. Other studies, for example, Trang et al . (2022), showed that yield was insignificant between ages of IMSF systems (2–4, 5–7, 9–12, and >12 years), but water management in the IMSF systems could be one of the critical factors affecting shrimp yields.…”

“…It was reported that mangrove forest coverage between 30% and 50% offered better shrimp yields (Binh, Phillips, and Demaine, 1997; Bosama et al ., 2016), while updated studies exhibited that 60–70% of mangrove forest coverage was suggested for the optimization of shrimp yields (Tran et al ., 2021; Trang et al ., 2022; Truong and Do, 2018). In the present study, the achieved yields of shrimp (98.80 kg ha –1 y –1 ) and crab (30.26 kg ha –1 y –1 ) were much lower than those of the previous studies reported in the IMSF systems of the VMD, from 45.86% to 75.38% and 22.81% to 60.65% (shrimp, 181–398 kg ha –1 y –1 ; crab, 39.20–76.90 kg ha –1 y –1 ), respectively (Trang et al ., 2022; Viet and Hai, 2016). The disparity was induced by numerous factors, such as mangrove forest ages and coverage, seeds, environmental backgrounds, technical configurations, and site-specific management of the IMSF systems.…”
