Shotgun proteomics implicates protease inhibition and complement activation in the antiinflammatory properties of HDL

Abstract: HDL lowers the risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease by promoting cholesterol efflux from macrophage foam cells. However, other antiatherosclerotic properties of HDL are poorly understood.
