Abstract:In the short-term follow-up, the Ajust™ system was effective in restoring continence in more than 85% of subjects with a highly significant improvement in QoL.

“…Continued observation after 24 months confirmed the high success rate, with results of 82 % [32,33]. Meschia et al [34] again confirm these results in a prospective study with a follow-up time of six months, reporting an objective continence rate of 91.4 %, and an on-going, 2011 prospective study from Abdel-Fattah [35] indicates 80 % subjective continence after 12 months and the possibility of surgically inserting under purely local anaesthesia.…”

“…Meschia et al evaluated the short-term outcomes of Ajust TM in 102 women with SUI [41]. No intraoperative complications occurred, except for technical diiculty with the ixation of the adjusting anchor on the left side of the patient.…”
Midurethral slings have become the gold standard in the surgical treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI). However, despite the high cure rates with these procedures, nearly 20% of the patients are incontinent after surgery. On the other hand, in a small percentage of women, voiding dysfunction may develop after surgery. Adjustable slings have been advocated in patients who fail an anti-incontinence surgery or have intrinsic sphincter deiciency (ISD) or in order to prevent postoperative voiding dysfunction. There are various options of adjustable slings according to the surgical route or the type of mesh used.
