“…For example, the [111] c poled PMN-0.31PT single crystal with Cu electrodes showed a d 15 of 5980 pC/N and k 15 of 97% [187]. Moreover, [011] c poled rhombohedral multidomain single crystals showed large transverse and shear piezoelectric properties (large d 32 , k 32 , d 15 , and k 15 ) [188].…”

“…However, for piezoelectric materials with 3m symmetry, such as single-domain PMN-PT and lead zinc niobate-lead titanate (PZN-PT), a resonance technique may result in exaggerated values if the shear mode to be measured is coupled with other modes. Peng et al [3] reported a shear electromechanical coupling factor k 15 of around 0.97, but a lower k 24 of 81% for [111]-poled PMN-31%PT. Similarly, using the resonance technique, a very high value of 97% for the effective thickness-shear coupling factor was obtained for PZN-8%PT [4].…”

“…Figure 2 presents the shear-mode impedance and phase angle spectrum for the optimized-orientation PIMNT crystals with Pt electrode sputtered at room temperature ͑dimension: l : w : t = 9.1 mm:4.2 mm:0.7 mm͒. 19,20 As presented, although the phase transition temperature T rt of PIMNT crystals is lower than PZT ceramic ͑soft͒, the piezoelectric and electromechanical properties of PIMNT crystals are significantly superior to PZT ceramic. Using Eqs.…”
