Sharing resources to advance translational research

Abstract: The publication of Resource articles is essential for the dissemination of novel, or substantially enhanced, tools, techniques, disease models, datasets and resources. By sharing knowledge and resources in a globally accessible manner, we can support human disease research to accelerate the translation of fundamental discoveries to effective treatments or diagnostics for diverse patient populations. To promote and encourage excellence in Resource articles, Disease Models & Mechanisms (DMM) is launching a n… Show more

“…Quantitative high-throughput screening (qHTS) uses the concentration-response relationship to determine pharmacological properties of drug and investigational agent libraries ( Inglese et al, 2006 ). By integrating Caenorhabditis elegans -driven phenotypic models of human disease with current and emerging chemical libraries, the qHTS platform described here will facilitate a critical link in translational research ( Hooper and Hmeljak, 2022 ). As pointed out by Kropp et al (2021) , C. elegans has shown promise in rare disease modeling and drug discovery.…”

“…This is in addition to the existing Outstanding Research Article Prize (£1000). Establishing a separate award for Resource articles allows us to showcase some of the articles we publish that significantly contribute to the progression of disease modelling technologies and research (find out more in a recent Editorial; Hooper and Hmeljak, 2022 ).…”
