Following decades of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation industry, most car companies will stop producing petrol cars and promote the development of new energy vehicles in the near future, even in China. This study is based on energy vehicle exports using China’s 31 provinces’ panel data from 2010 to 2020. Considering that China mainly engages in processing trade, this study analyzes the domestic energy vehicle’s export sophistication after deleting intermediate goods, measuring the relationship between export sophistication and industrial upgrading with static and dynamic panel models. Then, heterogeneity tests were deployed to examine the domestic export sophistication of three major economic belts partition. The results revealed that improving export sophistication is conducive to realizing China’s industrial upgrading. China’s new energy vehicles industry is positively affected by export sophistication, R&D, foreign direct investment, average GDP growth rate, market factors, and human resources over the long run. Regarding regional stratification, domestic export sophistication in the eastern and western regions has more significant effects on promoting industrial upgrading than in the central region. In particular, in western regions, every increase in export sophistication by one unit will bring a significant industrial upgrading effect. Given this, China’s new energy vehicles should increase export sophistication to help the country’s industrial upgrading.

As a new type of economy, the digital economy has become an important driver of economic changes and the direction of future economic development, as well as an important way to reduce carbon emissions in the logistics industry. Promoting carbon emissions reduction in the logistics industry with the digital economy has great practical significance. This paper analyzes the mechanism through which the digital economy impacts carbon emissions of the logistics industry, and then, based on provincial panel data from 2005 to 2019 in China, a nonlinear regression model and a quantile regression model are used to empirically test the digital economy’s impact on the carbon emissions of the logistics industry. The results show that there is a U-shaped correlation between the digital economy and carbon emissions of China’s logistics industry, and it is in the first half of the U-shaped correlation. The development of the digital economy has both a significant inhibitory and evolutionary effect on the carbon emissions of the logistics industry. With the increase in quantiles, the marginal impact of digital economy development on carbon emission reduction in China’s logistics industry decreases.

Climate change is one of the most important issues in today’s world. To address this matter, countries and companies are trying to become more sustainable. Countries have set the targets for greenhouse gas emissions reduction, which cannot be reached without the joint effort of the retail, small, medium, and corporate sector. Moreover, emissions and pollution reductions can be achieved through the economic and social development. Digitalization proved to be a fast-track for the economic growth and green development. That fast track becomes even faster if the country’s financial system has a certain level of development. This study is based on two secondary datasets and focuses on the Republic of Serbia, in the period of 2005-2018. The aim of this research is to determine the state of financial inclusion in the Republic of Serbia, and to test the relation between financial inclusion and carbon emissions. Based on correlation analysis, the results suggest that higher number of bank branches will result in higher CO2 emissions. Conversely, the introduction of more Automated Teller Machine (ATM) will yield lower carbon emissions. Results show that digitalization of financial transactions is enhanced, and environmental indicators are slightly decreasing. Therefore, findings suggest that digital financial inclusion in the Republic of Serbia can lead to carbon emissions reduction. Such results are important for policy makers since further digitalization can help in completing the goals of the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030.
