The Cretaceous Normal Superchron (CNS, 84–121 Ma) is a singular period of the geodynamo's history, identified by a prolonged absence of polarity reversals. To better characterize the paleosecular variation (PSV) of the geomagnetic field at the end of this interval, we sampled seven continuous sequences of lava flows from the Okhotsk‐Chukotka Volcanic Belt, emplaced 84–89 Ma in the vicinity of the Kupol ore deposit (NE Russia). From a collection of 1,024 paleomagnetic cores out of 82 investigated lava flows, we successfully determined the paleodirections of 78 lava flows, which led to 57 directional groups after removing the serial correlations. The resulting paleomagnetic pole is located at 170.0°E, 76.8°N (A95 = 5.2°, N = 57), in good agreement with previous estimates for north‐eastern Eurasia. Aiming at quantifying PSV at a reconstructed paleolatitude (λ) of ∼80°N, we obtained a virtual geomagnetic pole (VGP) scatter , the value of which was corrected for within‐site dispersion and is little dependent on the choice of the selection criteria. Compared to previous paleodirectional data sets characterizing PSV at various paleolatitudes during the CNS, our Sb estimate confirms a relative latitudinal increase Sb(λ = 90°)/Sb(λ = 0°) on the order of 2–2.5. Focusing on PSV at high paleolatitude within the 70°–90° range, we show that Sb was ∼15% lower at the end of the CNS than during the past 10 Myr, confirming that the singular polarity regime of the geodynamo observed during the CNS is likely accompanied with reduced PSV.

The paper studies patterns of interaction of electroexplosive Co nanoparticles with air oxygen during heating. The characteristics of Co nanoparticles and composite Co/CoO/Co3O4 nanoparticles formed as a result of oxidation were studied using transmission electron microscopy, X-ray phase analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and vibrating sample magnetometry. It was established that nanoparticles with similar morphology in the form of hollow spheres with different content of Co, CoO, and Co3O4 can be produced by varying oxidation temperatures. The influence of the composition of composite nanoparticles on their magnetic characteristics is shown.

By the beginning of the 20th century, at least ten different generations of intrusive mafic bodies 1800–900 Ma were distinguished on the territory of the Anabar massif. The first modern age estimates, however, indicate the formation of the bulk of these bodies in a relatively short period of time ~1480–1500 Ma. Based on geochronological and paleomagnetic data, intrusive bodies with this age were combined into the Kuonamka large igneous province (LIP). However, a complex of paleomagnetic studies indicated the probable existence of at least two pulses of magmatic activity during the formation of this province, differing in age, possibly by ~20 Ma. We performed a paleomagnetic study of subvolcanic bodies of the main composition of Permo-Triassic (dykes) and Mesoproterozoic (sills) age, emerging to the surface in the valley of the middle reaches of the Kotui River. As expected, the studied dikes contain an ancient magnetization, the direction of which is typical for Permo-Triassic magmatic bodies of the region and the Siberian platform as a whole, and the paleomagnetic directions of the sills are close to those previously determined in the age-related subvolcanic bodies of the Kuonamka igneous province (1501±3 Ma) of the Anabar massif. The data obtained allow us to test the previously proposed hypothesis about the existence of two magmatic pulses ~1480 and 1500 Ma ago during the formation of the Kuonamka igneous province. The results of the analysis of already known and new paleomagnetic data obtained by us do not support this hypothesis. A refined paleomagnetic pole was proposed for the Siberian platform ~1500 Ma ago with coordinates 22.6° S, 65.0° E and A95=4.3°.
