This paper presents a preliminary study on conventional Jaccard Distance performance in recognizing shapes with and without pre processing tasks. This study also identified the pre processing tasks that should be conducted to improve recognition performance. Jaccard Distance is performed by measuring the asymmetric information on binary variable and the comparison between vectors component. It compared two objects and notified the degree of similarity of these objects. This study also evaluated recognition performance on hand writing on isolated digits written using pen-based device. The first part of the work showed low recognition performed by the conventional Jaccard Distance when there was no pre processing task done onto the input. However, after translation, rotation, invariance scale content and noise resistance were added it showed improvement on the recognition progress. However the improvement was not very significance. Result showed that the degree of accuracy only improve averagely by 20%. Therefore thorough pre-processing tasks are to be carried out for the penbased input using Jaccard Distance measurement.

Abstract-The goal of the proposed method is to develop shape prediction algorithm using fuzzy that is computationally fast and invariant. To predict the overlapping and joined shapes accurately, a method of shape prediction based on erosion and over segmentation is used to estimate values for dependent variables from previously unseen predictor values based on the variation in an underlying learning data set.

Post-consumer PET bottle recycling is attracting increasing attention due to its value as an energy conservation and environmental protection measure. Sorting by color is a common method in bottle recycling; however, manual operations are unstable and time consuming. In this paper, we design a vision-based facility to perform high-speed bottle sorting. The proposed facility consists mainly of electric and mechanical hardware and image processing software. To solve the recognition problem of isolated and overlapped bottles, we propose a new shape descriptor and utilize the support vector data description classifier. We use color names to represent the colors in the real world in order to avoid problems introduced by colors that are similar. The facility is evaluated by the target error, outlier error and total error. The experimental results demonstrate that the facility we developed is capable of recycling various PET bottles.
