Shannon entropy (S), Rényi entropy (R), Tsallis entropy (T), Fisher information (I), and Onicescu energy (E) have been explored extensively in both free H atom (FHA) and confined H atom (CHA). For a given quantum state, accurate results are presented by employing respective exact analytical wave functions in r space. The p‐space wave functions are generated from respective Fourier transforms—for FHA these can be expressed analytically in terms of Gegenbauer polynomials, whereas in CHA these are computed numerically. Exact mathematical expressions of Rrnormalα,Rpnormalβ, Trnormalα,Tpnormalβ,Er,Ep are derived for circular states of a FHA. Pilot calculations are done taking order of entropic moments (α, β) as (35,3) in r and p spaces. A detailed, systematic analysis is performed for both FHA and CHA with respect to state indices n, l, and with confinement radius (rc) for the latter. In a CHA, at small rc, kinetic energy increases, whereas Sboldr,Rboldrnormalα decrease with growth of n, signifying greater localization in high‐lying states. At moderate rc, there exists an interplay between two mutually opposing factors: (i) radial confinement (localization) and (ii) accumulation of radial nodes with growth of n (delocalization). Most of these results are reported here for the first time, revealing many new interesting features. Comparison with literature results, wherever possible, offers excellent agreement.

INTRODUÇÃO No prefácio de seu livro Introduction to Nonextensive StatisticalMechanics, Constantino Tsallis relata um diálogo bem interessante entre Claude Shannon e John Von Neumann. Conta-se que Shannon, indeciso sobre como chamar a função por ele derivada, pensou inicialmente em chamá-la de informação, mas este nome já era muito usado. Depois de muito pensar, resolveu chamá-la de função incerteza. Entretanto, nesta conversa foi aconselhado por John Von Neumann:1 "Você deve chamá-la de entropia, por duas razões. Em primeiro lugar, a sua função incerteza tem sido utilizada na mecânica estatística com esse nome, então ela já tem um nome. Em segundo lugar, e mais importante, é que ninguém conhece o que a entropia realmente é, assim, em um debate, você sempre terá a vantagem". 2O presente diálogo ilustra o quanto pode ser controverso o conceito de entropia.O conceito de entropia surge, inicialmente, no âmbito da termodinâmica, fornecendo uma medida de irreversibilidade de um sistema físico; posteriormente, com a inclusão de métodos estatísticos para o estudo dos sistemas físicos e o estabelecimento da mecânica estatística, o conceito da entropia estatística surge fornecendo uma medida do grau de desordem de um dado sistema; 3 para uma crítica ao uso do termo desordem, ver Reis et al. 4A construção do conceito de entropia de Shannon se dá inicialmente dentro da estrutura da teoria matemática da comunicação ou teoria da informação.5 Tal teoria pode ser considerada uma seção da teoria da probabilidade e da matemática estatística que estuda sistemas de comunicação, criptografia, codificação, teoria do ruído, correção de erros, compressão de dados, etc. No âmbito da teoria da informação, a entropia fornece uma medida de incerteza em uma dada distribuição de probabilidade, recebendo, assim, a denominação de entropia de Shannon ou entropia da informação.Com tais interpretações e generalizações que o conceito de entropia pode adquirir, 6 vale lembrar Batel Anjo: 7 "Existem conceitos que resistem à passagem do tempo, uns pela sua importância, outros pela sua capacidade de se adaptar a novos domínios da ciência. Spherical confinement of coulombic systems inside an impenetrable box: H atom and the Hulthén potential

The generalized pseudospectral method is employed to study spherical confinement in two simple Coulombic systems: (i) well celebrated and heavily studied H atom (ii) relatively less explored Hulthén potential. In both instances, arbitrary cavity size, as well as low and higher states are considered. Apart from bound state eigenvalues, eigenfunctions, expectation values, quite accurate estimates of the critical cage radius for H atom for all the 55 states corresponding to n ≤ 10, are also examined. Some of the latter are better than previously reported values. Degeneracy and energy ordering under the isotropic confinement situation are discussed as well. The method produces consistently high-quality results for both potentials for small as well as large cavity size.For the H atom, present results are comparable to best theoretical values, while for the latter, this work gives considerably better estimates than all existing work so far.
